Floyd
Floyd is an expertly trained service dog from Canine Companions, the largest provider of assistance dogs in the country. Born in Santa Rosa, CA, raised in Maine by volunteer puppy raisers, and professionally trained New York, Floyd spent the first two years of his life learning, loving and ultimately deciding that a life of service was for him. Because of the high standards set by Canine Companions, only 50% of the dogs who go through training ultimately become a service dog; others go on to other jobs or a life as a pet. Floyd can perform more than forty tasks, including opening doors, picking up objects, and providing deep pressure to alleviate anxiety. As a partner to Lisa at Kindle Hill, Floyd helps clients practice emotional regulation, assists in reduction of anxiety when processing difficult experiences and feelings, and promotes a positive, judgement-free environment while engaging in the therapeutic process.
